The Lavender Bloomed

A few months ago I planted a small lavender bush on my firescape that I purchased from Crest Hardware on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg. You really need to go if you haven't been yet. It is the best hardware store ever with the friendliest and most helpful staff. I actually wish I worked there sometimes when I'm digging around in the garden section.

Anyway, we have had such incredible warm weather in New York recently that has helped the plant grow to five times in size in the past week alone. Wow, today is HOT. It's 94 degrees in the city.

Image above is from my actual Polaroid SX-70 (shocker, I know) I took this morning. I clipped a small bunch and placed the stems in an old jar on my nightstand. I am sooo excited to know I'll smell fresh lavender when I go to sleep tonight.

Summer is here, finally.

How hot is it in Philly today?

94 in NYC!! This is August weather not end of May. I didn't think it would be this hot so I'm the idiot that didn't wear a dress today. I went out earlier for a quick stop to the fruit stand and literally wanted to rip of my Levi's. At least they are white, but man, I was hot.

Are you and Dan traveling for Memorial Day? Delaware, perhaps??

BTW Erin, I have a TON of Matador digital downloads for you - the new Pavement, new K Vile, new Fucked Up, new National (I hate them, but you may like) and some other stuff.

I'll email it to you. It's the same format I used to send them to you in. I'll email them this week. You can only DL once - same deal.

yes- digi-downloads always welcome! you're awesome...

yeah, i don't really listen to The National, but I don't think I hate them! send along...

you would LOVE the little colonial house we were in last night (a friend of ours house)- i'll take you to see it next time you're in town. so great!

we watched "The Jerk" projected on her garden wall... and although i love that movie, the humor was a bit agonizing to get through at my age now... plus, i think i expect more violence and boobies nowadays! jk.

when we all looked at each other and conclusively agreed: "I don't think i can sit through another hour of this" we flipped the switch!

oh steve martin, i do love you.

Movies projected on walls - sigh...

We used to do that when we lived in Italy when I was a kid. My dad would score "American" films (on a REAL projector) and that's how we learned english basically. We'd watch these horrible films projected on the wall or my parents would hang a white sheet up in the yard. Italy was the best.

Hey, I'm going to Greece in September to a tiny island called Paros to hang with my aunt and cousin for a week. Think about joining me?! For realz. It'll be in mid September. I'd love a friend there to explore the island and my family is great. You will adore them.

Gmail me @ Greece Erin, not here.

I'll give you more details. It'll be a great trip. My family will feed and house us. We'd fly into Athens and stay at my mom's apartment then leave for the island the following day. We'd do the reverse from the island. Think about it...I don't want to stay in Athens more than 2 days total. It's all about the island, not the city.
