The Selby
One of my favorite sites to browse is The Selby. Tom Selby is a photographer that takes a peak into some of London's, New York's and Los Angeles' most interesting residential spaces. These interiors would never grace the inside of the traditional house mags, but what they do offer is a journey through a rare voyeuristic window into these people's lives and possessions.
Admit it. You want to know what type of salt and pepper Peaches Geldof uses...
Some of Selby's best: Diva &Lole Dompe, Cindy Greene and Christina, Lowe & Swain Hutson.

Master Cleanse: Day 10
I did it! I've made it to the 10th and final day of the Master Cleanse.

Master Cleanse: Day 9
One more day to go! Almost there.
Today I cheated. I drank a diet coke. I was out of maple syrup this morning and was so light headed I had to drink it just to stay balanced. It didn't stay in my stomach long; my body totally rejected it.
Today was my LAST salt water flush! Fuck yeah. That is such a gross part of this cleansing.
Tomorrow is the final day of the lemonade. Tuesday begins the "ease out" portion of the cleasne. It will be a day of freshly squeezed orange juice with maple syrup for two days. Thursday will be my first day back on real food. I can only have raw fruit and vegetables on this day. It is VERY important to ease out properly. You have no stomach lining left and it is very difficult for your body to break food down. It will be a total of 14 days no solid food when this is over (including ease in, cleanse and ease out).
Friday I can resume normal feeding. Hmmm...I think I'll celebrate with bean, rice and cheese burrito at Lola's Cafe on Metropolitan Avenue. So so good.
Tip of the Day: Only do the salt water on the weekends and stick to Senna tea and laxatives during the week. It's easier to get out the door in the morning.

Master Cleanse: Day 7
Today is Day 10 no solid food, day 7 on the Master Cleanse.
I was tired this morning, more than usual, but drank more juice around 9:00 am and am feeling energized. I've had lots of herbal tea to cope with the hunger. It's not as bad as yesterday. I needed to regroup mentally and recenter my focus - back on track now.
Tip of the Day: Buy baby wipes. They soothe.
Oh and good news: I booked my flight to San Francisco today!

Okay, to be honest I am hungry today. Starting tomorrow only 3 more days to go...
Tip of the Day: Um, don't watch Top Chef when cleansing.

The Breeders' Mountain Battles
Today I finally gave The Breeders new album Mountain Battles a listen. It is definitely a more mellow sound than what we've come to expect from Ohio natives Kim and Kelley Deal. I want to kick myself for not hearing it sooner (album released in Spring 2008).
What is most amazing about this record is how the Breeders pretty much sound exactly the same as they ever did. The quirks, peculiarity, kinks and hiccups that once contributed to the amateurish sound on past recordings is now their recognizable style that makes this near perfect.
Tracks:
Overglazed
Bang On
Night of Joy
We're Gonna Rise
German Studies
Spark
Istanbul
Walk it Off
Regalame Esta Noche
Here No More
No Way
Its' the Love

Master Cleanse: Day 5
It's Day 8 no food and Day 5 on the Master Cleanse. Yesterday was the first day I began to daydream about food since I began - Mexican food to be exact. I will double up on the lemonade today to keep the hunger and thoughts of food at bay.
Tip of the Day: Put your credit/debit cards away. You will find yourself online shopping. A lot.

Master Cleanse: Day 4
Go Day 7 no solid food and Day 4 on the cleanse!
Still going...No signs of stopping now. I do feel sluggish a bit this morning but I've had no lemonade as of yet and had chamomile tea last night so that may still be wearing off.
Tip of the Day: Stock up on movies when fasting. You will soon find you will be a slave to the confines of work and home due to the need to use the bathroom at any moment. Major bonus: I now can recite all of Snake Pliskin's lines in Escape from New York...

Master Cleanse: Day 3
I made it! I definitely had energy this morning but felt a bit dizzy walking to the train and then once on the train. This is not due to malnutrition (no solid foods for six days now) but what you begin to feel on Day 3 are your toxins moving around your body trying to exit. I guess I have a lot of pollution...
Today is also the first day I'll have "movements" somewhere other than the comforts of home. Eeek.
After today - it is easy sailing...
Tip: Drink an herbal chamomile tea at night (organic is best) after your laxative tea in order to sleep a bit earlier than your usual bed time. I found myself waking up a lot last night. Hopefully the tea will help with a constant sleep.

Master Cleanse: Day 2
This morning was the first Salt Water Flush - Woah. It tasted like hell going down and took about one hour to work its magic. The flushing sensation feels great and you can begin to feel the power of the cleansing. I still have very high energy and visual clarity (which I haven't experienced in some time). I feel fucking great actually.
Hunger pangs come and go but that only means you need to drink more of the lemonade (up to 16 glasses per day or more if you are vigorously exercising). I've been incorporating lots of herbal teas (totally allowed) at different intervals during the day to trick my body into thinking we are eating lunch and dinner. I have found this to be very helpful and allows me to have something to look forward to. Trust me, you will be counting the hours of the day on this cleanse...
Looking forward to reporting on Day 3 tomorrow. Apparently Day 3 is really tough and often callled "the hump" of the Master Cleanse. If you get passed Day 3 is easy saiing to Day 10.

Master Cleanse: Day 1
The lemons, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper drink tastes surprisingly refreshing...I thought it would be horrible, but I am glad to report it is not. I have very high energy today (having already done laundry, cleaned and ran errands) that I did not anticipate. I feel clarity and no sense of hunger or tiredness. Thank God.
I will salt water flush this evening. More on that later...
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! XO, V
